MAMS 503 - Just War Philosophy 3 hours Analysis of a critical theory for military ethics. The course attempts to distinguish between justifiable and unjustifiable uses of armed force. As articulated in writings by ethicists, moral theologians, and others, just war theory holds that a conflict can and ought to meet the criteria of justice. Readings for the course will explore when and how both actions of and actions in war ought to be restrained. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
