Molecular Biology, B.S.

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Natural Sciences and Mathematics

The Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology focuses on the study of structure and function of biological macromolecules to provide understanding of the underlying mechanisms of cellular processes.  Students will gain a strong foundation in biology, genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms that underlie cellular function.  Students will also engage in hands-on laboratory work, where they will develop crucial skills in critical thinking, molecular techniques, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication.  Students who attain the B.S. in Molecular Biology are prepared for a career in research and forensic laboratories, pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, or to further their education in pursuit of advanced degrees in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, or related fields.  The degree can also help prepare students for professional schools, including medical, physician’s assistant, or dental schools.
