ARTS 306 - Artifact and Text: Mythology in Ancient Art 3 hours This course examines ancient art through the lens of mythological stories. Oral tradition and the events described throughout mythology often served as visual inspiration for ancient art. This course explores the stories of the ancient world ranging from Greek and Roman mythology to Egyptian mythology, to the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Mahabharata. The goal is to explore how these stories appear within the visual repertoire of a given culture. Prerequisite(s): ARTS 111 and ARTS 112 .
