Emergency and Disaster Management Certificate

The undergraduate certificate in Emergency and Disaster Management provides students with the knowledge and skills required to conduct a comprehensive emergency management program, including disaster planning, risk assessment, emergency operations, crisis communication, public policy, and disaster mitigation and recovery. This multidisciplinary certificate program incorporates the sectors recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), providing students with essential skills for careers in the emergency and disaster management sector.
The Emergency and Disaster Management certificate will appear on the student’s academic transcript and provide evidence that the student has satisfied academic requirements for departmentally recognized courses in the area. The Emergency and Disaster Management certificate consists of successful completion of 18 semester hours of designated coursework.

Certificate Requirements
Students are required to complete a mandatory 12 semester hour core block of courses with 6 additional discretionary hours chosen from a list of pre-approved courses. These courses are: Electives (6 sem. hrs.)
