CDEV 355 - Teaching Math and Science to Young Children 3 hours An exploration of principles, methods, and materials for teaching young children math and science concepts through discovery and play. Emphasis is on research-based and developmentally appropriate practices for teaching infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and primary children. Includes the teaching of exceptional children mainstreamed in classrooms, the use of technology to teach math and science, and assessment of learning. Includes field experience of 15 hours. $40 lab fee applicable to main campus day only. Cross-listed as EDUC 355 . Prerequisites: EDUC 100 and EDUC 300 , or EDUC 505; EDUC 391 or PSYC 391 , or CDEV 290 and CDEV 291 , or EDUC 550; and admission to the Teacher Certification Program.
